Prof Marek Tamm
Project leader
Marek Tamm is Professor of Cultural History at the School of Humanities at Tallinn University. His primary research fields are the cultural history of medieval Europe, Estonian historical culture, theory and history of historiography, and cultural memory studies. In the Digital Livonia project, his main tasks are the general management of the project, contributing to the creation of the project’s web platform, and researching the social and textual networks of medieval Livonia.
Dr Inna Jürjo
Senior researcher
Inna Jürjo is a senior researcher at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Art History of Tallinn University. She is working on medieval and early modern urban and social history, her research interests include the history of culture, everyday life, and food culture. In the Digital Livonia project, she is responsible for prosopographical analysis of inhabitants in small towns of medieval Livonia and prepares a digital edition of Livonian town regulations (burspraken).
Dr Villu Kadakas
Senior researcher
Villu Kadakas is a senior researcher at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Art History of Tallinn University. His primary research fields are medieval and early modern buildings archaeology: stone buildings and landscape (churches, religious houses, castles, town fortifications, urban houses, etc). In the Digital Livonia project his main tasks are creation of interactive maps of medieval Estonia and urban centers, also creation of databases and research of urban plots and buildings.
Dr Tiina Kala
Senior researcher
Tiina Kala is researcher at Tallinn City Archives and senior researcher at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Art History of Tallinn University. Her main research areas include church and cultural history of medieval and early modern Livonia. In the Digital Livonia project her task is to conduct research on the written culture of medieval Livonia and its carriers, to compile a database of scripts and marginal notes represented in medieval Livonian sources as well as participate in the compilation of databases of medieval Livonian clergy and of the books originating form medieval Livonia.
Dr Juhan Kreem
Senior researcher
Juhan Kreem is researcher at Tallinn City Archives and senior researcher at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Art History of Tallinn University. His main research interests include medieval and early modern urban history, history of the Teutonic Order, maritime and military history. In Digital Livonia project his task is to collect and expand prosopographical data on the knight and priest brethren of the Teutonic Order in Livonia, as well as editing the catalogue of the seals of Tallinn City Archives.
Dr Ivar Leimus
Senior researcher
Ivar Leimus is researcher at the Estonian History Museum and senior researcher at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Art History of Tallinn University. His primary research fields are monetary and economic history, and medieval urban life. In the Digital Livonia project his main tasks are publishing digitally the probate inventories of Tallinn residents of the 15th and 16th centuries and compiling a database of medieval prices and wages in medieval Livonia.
Dr Anu Mänd
Senior researcher
Anu Mänd is senior researcher at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Art History of Tallinn University. Her research interests include the social and cultural history of medieval and early modern Baltic Sea region. In the Digital Livonia project her main task is to compile databases of medieval Livonian inscriptions and inhabitants of medieval Tallinn, to conduct research on the networks of merchants and craftsmen as well as on the visual sources.
Dr Mati Mõttus
Lecturer
Mati Mõttus is lecturer of computer cognition at the School of Digital Technologies in Tallinn University. He obtained his doctoral degree in Tallinn University in 2018 in computer science, in the field of human-computer interaction. His current research interest is pleasure in human-computer interaction. In the Digital Livonia project his main task is to design and develop the interface of the Digital Livonia web platform.
Hembo Pagi
Researcher
Hembo Pagi is researcher at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Art History of Tallinn University. His background is in archeology and technology. After completing his master’s degree, he worked on digital archeology projects at the University of Southampton and is still associated with the university. In recent years, he has been interested in optimising and automating digitisation processes in museum and cultural heritage sector. In the Digital Livonia project, his main task is to build the Digital Livonia web platform, using of Linked Data and popularise academic research through technological solutions.
Kaspar Kolk
Junior researcher
Kaspar Kolk is junior researcher at Tallinn University Academic Library and librarian in the department of manuscripts and rare books of the University of Tartu Library. His main research interests lie in intellectual history and book culture of medieval and early modern Europe, and Latin paleography and codicology. In the Digital Livonia project his main task is contribute to the database of the books originating form medieval Livonia.
